Submissions Guidelines:

Thank you for considering Top of the World Publishing as the potential home for your literary work. We are excited to explore new stories and discover exceptional voices that align with our diverse imprints. Before submitting your manuscript, please carefully review the following guidelines:

  1. Originality:
    • We’re on the hunt for stories that offer a fresh perspective, a new twist, or a unique voice that sets your work apart from the rest. While we appreciate homages to established tropes and traditions, we encourage authors to bring fresh perspectives and innovative ideas to the genre. 
  2. Writing Quality:
    • Our foremost priority is the quality of your manuscript. We seek tales that are captivating, plots that are tightly woven, characters that are vivid, and narratives that push the boundaries of the genre. 
    • Your submission should showcase a strong command of language, with clear and concise prose, vivid descriptions, and engaging dialogue. We value authors who can transport readers into the heart of their worlds and create an emotional connection through their words.
    • Ensure that your manuscript and/or proposal is free of typos and edited to a professional level.
  3. Genre and Imprint Preferences:
    • Top of the World Publishing accepts submissions in various genres, including Romance, Mystery, Suspense, Thriller, Science Fiction, Fantasy, Christian, Family, Non-Fiction, and Historical Fiction.
    • Clearly indicate the genre and imprint your submission aligns with in your cover letter.
  4. Submission Process:
    • All submissions should be sent via email to submissions@topoftheworldpublishing.com
    • Include a cover letter briefly describing your story, its genre, marketing plan, and a brief author bio highlighting your writing experience, achievements, and any relevant writing credentials or previous publication. 
    • Ensure your manuscript is polished, proofread, and properly formatted. Be aware we will only read the first three chapters to make an initial evaluation. If it passes that threshold we will read the rest.
    • Submissions should be in standard manuscript format, typically in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) or PDF format.
    • Provide your complete contact information, including email address and phone number.
    • Include a synopsis of your story to give us an overview of the whole book if we like the first few chapters. This will also be used later by the marketing team to get a handle on the entire story as they look for hooks to help sell it.
  5. Marketing and Promotion:
    • At Top of the World Publishing, we are committed to partnering with our authors to amplify the reach of their work. As part of our collaborative approach, we actively engage in marketing and promotional activities to ensure your book receives the attention it deserves.
    • Please provide a brief overview of your marketing and promotional plan for your book in the cover letter. This could include your email newsletter list, author platform, social media presence, and any unique marketing strategies you plan to implement.
    • While we actively support our authors in marketing efforts, we also encourage authors to be proactive in promoting their work. Engage with your readership through an email list, social media, book events, and other promotional avenues.
    • It’s important to note that successful book marketing is a collaborative effort. We value your input and dedication to the promotion of your work as much as we value our own.

By submitting your work to Top of the World Publishing, you acknowledge the importance of active participation in marketing efforts and agree to collaborate with our marketing team for the successful promotion of your book.

  1. Manuscript Length:
    • Currently, we accept full-length novels only for fiction (60,000 to 120,000 words)
    • Non-Fiction Length: 40,000 to 80,000 words
  2. Simultaneous Submissions:
    • We accept simultaneous submissions but kindly request that you notify us promptly if your work is accepted elsewhere.
  3. Multiple Submissions:
    • While we accept multiple submissions, please submit each manuscript separately and adhere to the guidelines for each submission.
  4. Rights and Permissions:
    • Submissions should be original and unpublished. Notify us immediately if your work is accepted elsewhere during the submission process.
  5. Response Time:
    • Our team receives a substantial number of submissions, and our review process takes time to ensure careful consideration of each work. We do, however, aim to respond to all submissions far more swiftly than our competitors, to ensure that our readers get the best books as quickly as possible. Our goal is to review and respond to submissions within 4 weeks.
